Release Date for FFX HD Announced

FFX HDI wrote a short article yesterday for Project Crystallis covering Square Enix’s announcement of the Western release date for Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remastered. (I suppose the title was devised by the same people behind Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, for its sheer length, if not silliness.) Bottom line: It’s coming out for the PS3 on March 18, 2014. No word yet on the Vita release date.

On a related note, Square’s actions are nullifying any fear I had regarding their cluttered holiday release schedule. If you recall my earlier post “The Looming Square Enix Storm“, I noted that Square seemed to putting a lot of its chips into gambling on the holiday season. Now, with Lightning Returns set for February, FFX HD moved to March, and the prospect of XV/Versus XIII put off until late 2014, or early 2015 as I’m betting, there’s now a good amount of breathing room in-between all Square’s major jRPG titles.

Also related to Square: They improved nicely on their financial outlook, but their earnestness about focusing on the mobile and online markets is regrettable for those who love their highest-quality AAA titles (e.g. Final Fantasy). We’ll see in the long run how this develops.
